| Behind the Scenes |
Meet the staff at SCU
Jann Small
What is your job
I am the liaison librarian for psychology and nursing at the Coffs Harbour campus. I’m also the co-ordinator for Endnote and teach that on this campus.
When did you start
I started in 2002.
What were you good at in school?
I was good at English and maths and also needlework. I used to make all of my own clothes and I still do the occasional thing, but you can’t buy fabrics like you used to.
What other jobs have you done?
I was a fashion teacher, covering a mixture of garment manufacturing, tailoring and millinery. I really loved teaching. When I was made redundant from TAFE in the mid 90s I did a retraining program. I remember thinking what else could I do and I thought I wouldn’t mind working in a library. I’ve done a Graduate Diploma and Master of Applied Science in Library and Information Management. I know what it’s like to be studying, working and looking after a family and I know a lot of the problems the students face. I really enjoy the student and staff contact and enjoy helping them find the information they need.
What do you do for fun?
I like walking on the beach and keeping fit and, in typical librarian fashion, I like to read a good book!
