What is your name?
What is your job?
I am the Projects Coordinator within the newly formed Student Engagement and Retention Team. I have only been in this position for one month, so at this stage the job is still evolving. However my focus is to enhance student engagement.
What is the best thing about your job?
As this job (and the Student Engagement and Retention Team) have not been in existence before, I love that I am helping to shape it and the team. I am particularly delighted by analysing data from our systems to identify themes and trends occurring for our students, which forms a large part of my work. However the best thing about my job is that I am collaborating with lots of different people (staff and students) on an everyday basis.
What were you good at while at school?
Visual arts and creative projects.
What other things have you done?
Most people know me from the Student Liaison Team within the School of Health and Human Sciences, where I was working for 7 years prior to my current job. Other things that I have done that people may not know about is that I used to design websites; I used to work for a plumber – digging trenches and assembling pipes; and I used to be a Sh’Bam instructor (Les Mills dance exercise class). Currently I am on the governance board (Council of Women) for the Lismore & District Women’s Health Centre, where I have been Secretary for two years. This satisfies a need within me to give back to the community that raised me and to ensure that quality services for women are sustained.
What book or CD is on your bedside table?
Since its release in June 2013, I have been listening to Queens of the Stone Age …Like Clockwork at least once a week. It’s a beautiful journey and I highly recommend it!
What do you do for fun?
I love to spend time out in the garden as much as I can, and I get great entertainment out of watching my silly chooks. My spare time usually involves creative activities like photography, jewellery making, sewing and art.
